At the start of the new season, Manchester United are struggling to get the monkey off their back. After sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick managed the side but failed to get anything going.

They equaled an unwanted record with their fourth straight loss. The last four consecutive losses came in 1961 when Sir Matt Busby was at the helm. The defeat against Brighton and Brentford has not only brought more unwanted criticism on the players but also Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United waits for their first win of the season

Manchester United started the game on the back foot, and Brentford took advantage of it. The game was done and dusted by the 25th minute as Brentford went 4-0 up by the 35th minute.

Though the Red Devils tried to salvage something from the game in the second half, the Bees’ defense happily sat back and thwarted any threat on their goal. The wait for the first competitive win in England continues for Erik ten Hag.

There were hardly any positives, but the list of negatives can go on and on for Manchester United. Only the character of Tyrell Malacia and Marcus Rashford’s chance creation were the low-key positives to take from the match.

In this write-up, let’s look at three major letdowns for Manchester United from the defeat at GTech Community Stadium.
