Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain. Rashford endured a difficult 2021/22 season with the Red Devils, so it could be the right time for him to move on.
French Newspaper L’Equipe has reported that:
"In search of reinforcements in attack, PSG have targeted England international Marcus Rashford.A week after explaining that he hoped for three more reinforcements this summer, Christophe Galtier (PSG’s head coach) confirmed this Thursday at a press conference that Paris-SG wanted to recruit an attacker by the end of the transfer window."
Is It the Right Time for Rashford to Leave Old Trafford?
Rashford has been at Manchester United a long time. He joined their academy when he was just seven years old and has gone on to make a total of 303 appearances for the club, scoring 93 goals.
He made his debut for the club in 2015 and has won the FA Cup, League Cup and the Europa League. Being at United for so long he would probably have expected to have won a few more trophies during his time but such has been the inconsistency at Old Trafford in recent years since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Last season the forward had a difficult season where he played 25 times in the Premier League and scored just four goals. He did have injuries and was part of a struggling side, but a fresh start could be what the 24-year-old needs.
Manchester United had a dreadful start to the Eric ten Hag era against Brighton at the weekend losing 2-1. It is not looking great at the club with Ronaldo wanting to leave and the team putting in such a bad performance. Therefore, top players like Rashford need to get off this sinking ship and look for new challenges.

What Would the Manchester United Forward Offer PSG?
Rashford would be the first English player to play for PSG since David Beckham, who played for the French side in 2013. There are similarities between Beckham and Rashford, they are both Manchester United and England men, and both do exceptional charitable work, Rashford in particular with the food poverty campaign and Beckham with UNICEF.
Beckham never wanted to leave United, and Rashford being a local lad from the city, it will be emotional for him to leave the club as well. Beckham, after leaving Old Trafford, went to Real Madrid and won La Liga and Rashford if he goes to PSG, is very likely to win his first league trophy in winning Ligue 1.
PSG do of course already have a forward line of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, so Rashford will have his work cut out getting into the starting lineup ahead of these names. Although, they have just let Angel Di Maria leave for Juventus this summer, so do need a replacement for him.
Playing alongside these players would only help Rashford develop further, and with the Qatar World Cup just around the corner, playing well for PSG will help him get back into Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Rashford missed his penalty in the shootout defeat to Italy in the final of Euro 2020 and needs to get himself back in contention with England to have any chance of redeeming himself.
England fans will remember that Beckham, after getting sent off against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup, redeemed himself by scoring the winner against the same side in the 2002 tournament.
Given the similarities with Beckham, this is something Rashford should use as motivation to write his own redemption story.
