Leeds United were down and almost out last year, but things have certainly taken a positive turn. The summer transfer window is considered a success, despite losing top players in Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.
New manager, Jesse Marsch, has survived the storm of replacing a legend in Marcelo Bielsa and keeping the team in the Premier League.
On Saturday, the club opened the new campaign with an exciting victory against Wolverhampton. The exciting brand of football was back at Elland Road and the future looks bright for the upcoming season.
Leeds United Documentary
The great success of the Leeds Amazon documentary, “Take Me Home”, has sparked interest in another documentary called, “The Academy”.
The first documentary had an inside look at the battle to be promoted to the Premier League. The challenges facing Bielsa, the players, the board and the supporters were compelling, to say the least.
The new documentary will have a slightly different take, as the focus will be on the promising young players that are fighting their way into the first team.
Last season was a struggle for many and is best put as a forgettable season with an unforgettable ending. The bright spot of the season was the chance for some younger players to make their top-flight debuts while helping to keep the club up.
The poster boy for this documentary and last season’s success is surely Joe Gelhardt, who has recently signed a new contract at the club. Gelhardt was pure magic off the bench and was a pivotal part of remaining in the EPL.
American Influence at Leeds United
The club appointed an American manager and proceeded to sign two bright young American players in, Brendan Aaronson and Tyler Adams.
The three Americans, along with part American owners, will be sure to boost the popularity of football in the states. More importantly, the Leeds brand will be rising in popularity in America.
The new documentary will only help the rise of Leeds support in the world, but more specifically in America. It will give the fans a chance to get an inside look at the current group of players and staff.
Additionally, many players and staff remain with the club from the original documentary, which will be a great watch for any new Leeds fans.
