According to recent reports, Nottingham Forest are set to complete another summer signing after reaching an agreement with La Liga and Real Betis star, Alex Moreno.

The 29-year-old has been linked with Forest for some time now, and after multiple bids being rejected, reports now suggest that a deal has finally been agreed upon between the clubs.

According to John Percy of the Telegraph:

"Nottingham Forest have agreed a fee of around £9m with Real Betis for left-back/left-winger Alex Moreno. Medical in next few days, set to be 13th summer signing. Forest working on other new additions before window closesvia: @JPercyTelegraph"

Nottingham Forest and Their Initial Bids

Nottingham Forest’s first bid was rejected earlier when Betis wanted around £17 million for the midfielder.

Following the first attempt, Forest bid around £8.4 million for both Moreno and William Carvalho last week. This bid was outright rejected by the Spanish club. And now, it is believed that a bid for around £9 million has been accepted.

Moreno is primarily a left-back who can also play up the field. He is an attacking-minded player who played a key part in Betis’ Copa Del Ray win last season.

He scored 5 goals and collected 3 assists last season in the league as Betis finished a respectable fifth. He is a very good ball carrier, as seen by his 6.27 progressive carries, 2.25 carries into the final third, and 0.8 Carries into Penalty Area per 90. He also recorded 2.73 touches in the penalty box per 90.  (stats from fbref.com)

This will be Forest’s 13th summer signing once the deal goes through. Their signings include Jesse Lingard for free, Dean Henderson (on loan) from Manchester United, Omar Richards from Bayern Munich, Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin, and Neco Williams from Liverpool.

Forest are also linked with Morgan Gibbs White in a reported £40 million deal and will look to complete negotiations soon. If Brighton sanctions a transfer, it will be Notts club-record deal at £40m.

Reporting on this deal, David Ornstein of Athletic tweeted:

"Nottingham Forest bid for Morgan Gibbs-White £25m+10m. #NFFC said final offer & #WWFC rejected but deal not dead. Club told he won’t even discuss new contract (2024). If replacement found, move may still happen. 22yo set to start at Leedsvia @David_Ornstein"

Reports also suggest that Nottingham Forest have agreed to terms with Swiss midfielder, Remo Freuler, and will be looking to complete the deal soon.
