Liverpool open their Premier League campaign with a trip to Fulham but must do so without the services of both Curtis Jones and Ibrahima Konate; the pair will be sidelined for a while, as per reports.
It will be a concerning start to the 2022/23 season for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool as their injury list before the first kickoff takes place continues to grow, and do so rapidly. They’ve now lost two players quite involved in the first-team setup.
It is said that: Curtis Jones will undoubtedly miss their travels to Craven Cottage this weekend Saturday and could be out for a further four weeks. That is five Premier League fixtures missed; there is no doubt he would have started a couple of the five outings during that period.
Despite The Athletic‘s claims, the Anfield club is still unclear about the seriousness of the injury he picked up, where the Reds played two 90-minute matches in the space of 24 hours; they require the advice of a specialist.
"Curtis Jones is set to miss Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Fulham this weekend following a calf injury he picked up at the weekend, The Athletic understands.Liverpool are now awaiting specialist opinion on the severity of injury, which could leave him sidelined for between two to four weeks. Once the assessment is complete, Liverpool will know more on the extent of the issue.(Via: theathletic.com)"
Ibrahima Konate’s Situation
Another player to fall victim to the 42-hour work weekend is Konate. He was an unused substitution in Liverpool’s Community Shield triumph over Manchester City. He then was one of the XI who started the day after against Strasbourg.
He lasted until the second half and then was removed from the game, in which they lost 3-0. It was clear that he sustained a knock during the game, however, what is unclear: is the amount of time he will be sidelined for.
"Ibrahima Konate is set to miss the start of the 2022-23 season after sustaining an injury during Sunday’s pre-season encounter with RC Strasbourg Alsace. The centre-back was forced from the field in the second half of the Anfield fixture having picked up a knock.(Via: liverpoolfc.com)"
Liverpool’s List of Injured Players
- Curtis Jones
- Ibrahima Konate
- Diogo Jota
- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
- Kostas Tsimikas
- Calvin Ramsay
All these outfielders listed above have important roles in the squad, and once the EFL Cup and Champions League begin, they will be needed most. Hopefully, recovery time is quick and the rest of the Reds stay injury free for as long as possible.
