Leicester want MONSTER bid for Wesley Fofana

Reports over recent days suggest that Chelsea have identified Leicester City’s 21-year-old French centre-back Wesley Fofana as a key target and as an answer to their right centre-back hole.

Fofana enjoyed a fantastic debut season at Leicester City 2 seasons ago and showed composure, pace and ability on the ball that marked him out as a massive prospect for the future.

His 2021/2022 season was cruelly cut short by a long-term injury suffered early into last season. However, Fofana is back fit and Chelsea appear to have made him one of their primary targets.

Leicester have placed a monster valuation on their young centre-back with an asking price of £85-90million, as per the Athletic. However, Chelsea appear confident that they would be able to reduce this fee by a sizeable chunk through their negotiations and by offering other players that Leicester might be interested in.

It’s worth noting that Chelsea and Leicester seem to have a strong relationship having worked on many deals in recent years and consistent reports by various sections of the media suggest confidence from the London club that they can get this deal over the line.

Fofana is fast, composed, a good reader of the game and comfortable on the ball. He’s already shown good acclimatisation to the rigours of the Premier League at a young age and seems to have the mentality at age 21 to make it to the top. However, it remains to be seen if Chelsea and Leicester City can do a deal with Leicester’s valuation sky-high.
