Liverpool’s Work Done Before the Match Comes With a Mixed Bag of Reviews.

Not exactly the performances we’ve come accustomed to but that’s always expected from teams in the off-season, especially if there are new players who must be bled into the system, and especially in Jurgen and Pep’s intense systems.

Liverpool’s Pre-season Results

Manchester United 4-0 Liverpool
Liverpool 2-0 Crystal Palace
RB Leipzig 0-5 Liverpool
RB Salzburg 1-0 Liverpool

The Reds have played four friendlies, winning two and losing two. They scored seven goals and conceded six, with a whopping four goals let by in one game against their oldest rivals, Manchester United.

Regardless that these are just warm-up games, these results are below par by their standards. But the Reds boss has been trying new things and a lot of new combinations. He will be hoping the one he picks today will bring home the win.

Manchester City: Little Warm-up Games but Steady as a Rock

Man City, not as ruthless but getting the business done as usual. They almost went their two games without conceding a goal, which sounds like they have picked up where they left off in their Premier League-winning campaign last season.

Manchester City Results

Manchester City 2-1 Club America
Bayern Munich 0-1 Manchester City

Three goals were scored, one conceded, which didn’t come against their tougher opponents, Bayern. What’s crazy about the prep work is that Erling Haaland was only involved for the first half of the second game, making his first appearance for them against familiar foes; it took him 12 minutes to score his first goal in City colours.

With all being said and all the work done up until this point, this meeting will nonetheless be entertaining from the kickoff to the final whistle.
