#2 – Ralph Hassenhuttl (Southampton)

After a positive set of results towards the beginning of last season, many would argue that Hassenhuttl’s Southampton side massively underachieved ultimately finishing 15th.

Pochettino’s era at Southampton is best remembered for their impressive top-half finishes and turning huge profits on player sales, especially young players.

In the last five seasons, however, Southampton have picked up more than 50 points only once and remained firmly rooted to the bottom half of the table.

The exception, when they managed to amass a total of 52 points in the 2019-20 season, now feels an awfully long time ago.

Fans long for a return to the days they were consistently challenging the country’s best and qualifying for European competitions whilst also making sure players sold are replaced with more young, hungry players.

Despite the criticism, the new owners are determined to back Hassenhuttl with the financial backing he deserves.

Southampton have got some tough games which include a trip to North London to face Antonio Conte’s Spurs on the opening day and a home game against Manchester United.

If they find themselves in the bottom three or the bottom five coming into the break before the World Cup, do the club make a decision and get someone else in or do they stick by Hassenhuttl especially since his contract is up in 2024?
