The former Derby and Chelsea manager is on thin ice right now. Everton barely managed to secure Premier League safety last season with a win against Crystal Palace in their penultimate game.

However, there has been no evidence displaying any sort of improvement. A pre-season humbling by Minnesota United hasn’t gone down well either. Lampard has admitted the hammering could be an indication of a possible repeat of last season’s struggles unless mass changes are made.

The Blues have had their bids rejected for Morgan Gibbs-White and Maxwel Cornet and have released several players including Fabian Delph, Cenk Tosun and Jonjoe Kenny.

Everton have only managed to complete the signing of James Tarkowski on a free transfer meanwhile they’ve let go of star player Richarlison for an initial £50m and a further £10m in add-ons.

The Merseyside outfit are currently fighting to keep Dominic Calvert Lewin and Anthony Gordon at the club amidst interest from Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham.

So far, it hasn’t been a good transfer window for the Blues. Fan unrest hasn’t been easy either. The 27 Campaign, an alliance of several Everton fan groups has organised a protest outside Goodison Park on Saturday over the mismanagement of the club under the owner Farhad Moshiri.

With the opening game of the Premier League season seeing the Chelsea boys roll into town followed by a trip to Villa Park, Lampard could find himself in a precarious situation and according to the bookmakers could be the very first managerial casualty of the season.
