Has Cristiano Ronaldo tarnished his public image this summer?

Is Cristiano Ronaldo the reason behind the unhappy dressing room?
Manchester United fans know what an unhappy dressing room can do from last season and with the rest of the team gelling well in the ongoing pre-season, it makes life difficult for Erik ten Hag to make changes to the functioning playing XI.
It remains interesting to see how the former Ajax manager will fit Ronaldo into a fluid front line comprising Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes.
The Red Devils are still building the team since their last Premier League title win in 2012/13. The last ten seasons have seen no major honours for the club.
There are many reasons and the lack of crucial signings is one of them. The Old Trafford club signed Cristiano Ronaldo even when they had surplus options in the attack.
Signing Cristiano Ronaldo in the previous summer affected the number of goals scored by other players. Also, the club struggled to play its usual free-flowing and counter-attacking football and suffered humiliating losses to their arch-rivals.
Manchester United had four players in the 2020/21 season scoring 10+ goals in a season whereas it was only Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2021/22.
The Portuguese talisman hasn’t come out to deny the rumours surrounding his departure. He ruled out a move to Sporting when he was linked, but has not ruled out the possibility of leaving the Old Trafford club. It is in the best interests of the club to let go of the player.
