Bayern Munich: Five Alternative Replacements for Robert Lewandowski
By Tanish Menon
#5 – Duvan Zapata (Atalanta B.C)
Another player going unnoticed who could be a solid replacement at the Allianz Arena next season is Duvan Zapata.
The Colombian international stands at around 6’2 boasting immense aerial ability whilst also possessing menacing pace. Zapata has broken a series of records in Italy and should definitely be on the list of top European clubs.
Zapata is excellent in link-up play in building up an attack, showing very good passing and creative ability, something which isn’t expected from a goal poacher like him.
He also provides good defensive cover, pressing well from the front and tracking back thanks to a strong work rate. Zapata is a very well-rounded player, and that’s a tremendous asset for a club like Bayern Munich.
Despite not having the best of seasons, Zapata managed to score 13 goals and 7 assists across all competitions. He enjoyed 76.2% pass completion whilst also completing 1.64 dribbles per 90.
Newcastle United are said to be linked with the 31-year-old but Atalanta are holding out for atleast £21million. Should Bayern Munich come in with a late bid, the Columbian international would almost certainly be the ideal replacement for Lewandowski.
