Mourinho has pulled off another steal, sealing the deal for free agent Paulo Dybala, who left Juventus this summer after his contract expired with the club.

Before the announcement and before Dybala was being heavily linked with a move to Roma, he was linked with a sensational switch to the English Premier League to one of Arsenal, Manchester United, or Tottenham.

All of the clubs mentioned made their attempts but failed miserably to convince him to leave the Serie A. With no transfer fee to pay and only a huge salary offer needed to be made to the player, it was a battle of persuasiveness.

Basically, it was a fight about who was the better fit and team for him.

Now he has touched done in Roma and has signed a three-year deal with an option to extend by another year with the side that has won the first ever UEFA Europa Conference League.

It is no secret that Jose Mourinho himself made contact with the electric attacker, convincing him to join forces with the “Special One”.

"Roma have officially announced the arrival of Paulo Dybala, who has joined the club on a free transfer.Roma’s announcement confirms Dybala has signed a three-year contract with Roma, understood to be worth around €6m net per season including add-ons, with an option to extend for a fourth year.He was personally contacted by Jose Mourinho prior to the move and he’ll be an exciting addition to the squad in the Italian capital.(Via: football-italia.net)"

Paulo Dybala Would Have Been a Statement Signing for Any Premier League Club

All three English clubs previously mentioned were in search of a high-profile striker; the Gunners signed Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, Spurs signed Richarlison from Everton, and Manchester United continue their search for a striker addition.

If they had made a breakthrough on Dybala, either of these newcomers would not have made their respective destination. He would have certainly been seen as a statement and marquee addition to either of them.

In his seven seasons with the Old Lady, he made 293 appearances, scoring a staggering 115 goals and assisting a further 44 goals. Any top-six team in the English top flight would die for a ruthless goalscorer, especially on a free transfer.

Jose Mourinho With a Grin on His Face

One can only imagine the satisfaction and joy Jose Mourinho must have felt with this transfer; not only did he single-handedly convince Paulo Dybala to join him at the Stadio Olimpico but he also saw his old teams, Man United and Spurs, fail to outplay him in a game of cheese in the transfer window.

light. Must Read. Where does Zinchenko fit in Arteta’s plans?

This coupled with the fact he has won more silverware than both clubs since leaving either of them, he appears to be enjoying life after the Premier League.
