Jesse Lingard, who left Manchester United at the end of last season, has been the subject of interest from West Ham, Everton and DC United.
However, according to The Athletic, “Lingard is set to make a decision on his future next week and wants to be at a new club no later than Friday.
"“It is believed that Lingard will not be moving to MLS but is considering an option from Saudi Arabia, which would see him earn £10 million per year.“Lingard’s preference is to stay in the Premier League and the 29-year-old is thought to have three proposals on the table.”"
Everton, West Ham or Saudi Arabia for Jesse Lingard?
If the other two options are Everton and West Ham he must choose to stay in England and play at the highest level.
He knows he can play well at West Ham where the fans love him and he had a very productive time on loan at the club back in 2021 where he scored 9 goals and got 5 assists in 16 appearances.
This form for the Hammers got Lingard back into the England team before narrowly missing out on a place in Gareth Southgate’s side for the delayed Euro 2020.
If Lingard recreates the form he showed last time he was at West Ham in the first half of this season he will definitely put himself in contention for Southgate’s side for the Qatar World Cup.
David Moyes knows how to get the best out of him and Lingard still has the quality to star in the Premier League. West Ham is also in the Europa Conference League this season so he will also play European football.
Lingard did well to help West Ham qualify for the Europa League in 2021 but unfortunately missed out on representing the Hammers in Europe as he stayed at Manchester United.
It feels like Lingard has unfinished business in East London and he could help them get into more prestigious European competition.
David Moyes eyes reunion with Lingard
West Ham have been productive in the transfer window so far, signing Nayef Aguerd and Flynn Downes while Alphonse Areola joined the club permanently after impressing on loan last season. The club still need a striker and have been linked with Gianluca Scamacca and Armando Broja recently.
Moyes looks like he will be continuing the great work he has done already at the club as they embark on another season which could conceivably include another long European campaign.
A move to Everton could be an exciting option to be a part of Frank Lampard’s rebuild of the club for Lingard.
Liverpool is also a lot closer for the Manchester-based player than London. Although, they do not offer European football and with Everton being involved in a relegation battle last season a player of Lingard’s quality should be looking further up the league.
Whatever his decision the player will hopefully not pick the Saudi Arabia option as he still has the quality to play in the Premier League and moving to the Middle East will all but rule out the player ever making it back into the England squad.
