Concluding thoughts

While PSG would likely demand a reasonable sum for Kimpembe, his acquisition could represent an important contribution to the vision of Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.

Some reservations about his defensive ability exist but it’s hoped that his fit to the requirement of this role under Tuchel and training alongside veteran defenders would help him raise his game to the next level.

He has experience playing at the highest level having started a Champions League final and been part of a World Cup-winning campaign. His style of defending is relatively passive as compared to Rudiger, more akin to Christensen but this can be balanced by the intent shown by his partner at center-back.

He possesses enough athleticism and recovery pace to be a good fit for the specific role required by Tuchel in his Chelsea team and the new ownership of Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital would do well to help Thomas Tuchel get the tools he needs to turn Chelsea into league contenders again.
