Chelsea Agree £47.5m Deal With Manchester City for Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling is set to complete a £47.5million move from Manchester City to Chelsea in the coming days, as reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The 27-year-old will sign a five-year deal with the option of an additional 12 months.
Personal terms had already been agreed between the player and Chelsea, who are now working as quickly as possible to organise a medical so that Sterling can join the team on their pre-season tour in the US.
After speaking directly with head coach Thomas Tuchel, Sterling was motivated by the club’s optimism and vision for the upcoming season, in which he will play a crucial role for the London side.
Raheem Sterling’s Time in Manchester
The England international moved to Manchester in July 2015 from top-four rivals Liverpool, costing the club around £44million, and it didn’t take long for him to become a fan-favourite amongst the City faithful.
Throughout his seven-year spell at the Etihad, he has racked up a remarkable 131 goals and 94 assists in 337 appearances in all competitions. Sterling is a four-time Premier League champion, three-time League Cup winner and won the FA Cup for the first time in 2019 – as well as being a part of the record-breaking Centurion side that reached 100 points in the Premier League.
He has cemented his name in the history books at Manchester City, and his name in the hearts of Cityzens everywhere, for all the magic he contributed in his unforgettable years as a blue.
Now Its Time for a New Challenge For Sterling With Chelsea
It’s now time for a different shade of blue, though, as the winger heads to West London to add to his already extraordinary tally of achievements and honours.
He will be Chelsea’s first signing of the summer transfer window, whereas City have already bolstered their attacking options with the additions of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
They also announced the signing of Kalvin Phillips from Leeds last week to further strengthen their defensive line, following the departure of club captain Fernandinho.
