The summer transfer window has been open for almost a full month and business booming across Europe. Over the years, the transfer market has reached peak levels of inflation.

Our generation has seen players move for bizarre amounts of money. Some teams splash the cash to buy the best in class and some adopt elite-level scouting systems to find hidden gems scattered all across the world.

Let’s take a look at 5 potential bargain buys clubs should be looking at as the summer transfer window rages on.

#1 – Nordi Mukiele (RB Leipzig)

The Frenchman switched clubs in 2017 after leaving Montpellier for RB Leipzig for a reported fee of €16million and has certainly been one of the most important players in the side.

With his first senior call-up to the French squad in 2021, Mukiele hasn’t gone unnoticed with many top-tier clubs interested in his services.

Mukiele’s ability to play multiple positions (primarily a right-back, center-back, and right wing-back) provides an opportunity to make a smart signing without spending a ludicrous amount of money.

During the 2021/22 season, Mukiele averaged 0.21 defensive blocks, ranking low across the Bundesliga at 143rd, making 2.61 tackles ranked 95th, and 4.43 interceptions which ranks 86th.

Despite this being underwhelming, to say the least, his introduction to the Leipzig side has corresponded in 49 clean sheets over the space of 4 seasons.

Mukiele’s defensive presence, his physicality, and his tall figure help him to balance out both his attacking and defensive responsibilities. He would be a good fit for any team, offering a versatile, physical presence in defense.

Manchester United and Tottenham are said to be interested in the player and for a fee as low as €10 million, Mukiele could certainly be a smart addition to either of the two Premier League clubs.
