Breakthrough for Chelsea in Raheem Sterling Deal: Here We Go?
Chelsea are a £45m agreement away from taking Raheem Sterling off Manchester City’s hands; the player and his soon-to-be club have agreed to personal terms.
It appears that all the groundwork to start singing new players is behind the Blues, and they are finally ready to add new names to the roster at Stamford Bridge. As predicted before by The Top Flight, the English winger will become the London side’s first summer arrival and kickstart the Todd Boehly regime.
As per Fabrizio Romano: Sterling is happy with the project at Stamford Bridge and has agreed to personal terms following positive talks between him and Thomas Tuchel weeks ago. However, is it a “Here we go” moment yet? Nope, just not there yet.
There is only the fee that needs to be determined between Chelsea and Manchester City. But nothing suggests they are far off on the valuation and will reportedly agree to a £45million transfer fee.
"Raheem Sterling accepted Chelsea as future destination weeks ago after direct talk with Tuchel – and personal terms fully agreed, he’ll be among best paid players. Chelsea and City, set to agree final fee around £45m and then it will be completed."
Raheem Sterling Moving From Top Club to Top Club With Chelsea Switch
This is a brilliant move for at least the buyer and the player. The 27-year-old still has plenty of football left in him. He will continue to play at the highest level and compete for the biggest honours.
Thomas Tuchel now has an attacker that has guaranteed goals for the past 11 Premier League campaigns with two different clubs. The first club he left during their rebuild and just before their rise to prominence.
The second club he leaves having won almost everything there is to win, except the Champions League. Domestically he has reached his ceiling in Pep Guardiola’s side, so there wasn’t any reason to stay with game time now a lot more limited with the inclusion of Erling Haaland.
At Chelsea, he can reach a different level and improve other parts of his game. Most importantly, Tuchel also has a player who stays fit for longer periods during the season. Since 2013, for both the Reds and the Cityzens, Raheem Sterling completed 30-plus games per season.
What a way to make a mark on the Premier League and the summer transfer window. A statement signing and sign on intent and backing for the manager, Thomas Tuchel, by the owner, Todd Boehly.
The Blues business will continue and after the Raheem Sterling breakthrough, more incomings should follow quickly.
