Recent reports suggest that Arsenal and Liverpool are willing to fight for a certain Aston Villa player. However, interest in the player is high as even clubs like Barcelona are said to have taken note.

The player in question is Aston Villa’s 18-year-old star Carney Chukwuemeka.

According to world-renowned football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, the youngster could well be on his way to Liverpool or Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

Speaking to Que Golazo Podcast, this is what Romano had to say about the rumour:

"I would keep an eye on him because many clubs are following him, so I’m not sure he’s staying this summer, I’m not sure.via hitc.com"

If he does end up moving from Aston Villa, the Villians could lose one of their most prized youth academy assets in recent times.

The teenager has become one of the most talked-about prodigies in English football. He has gathered some big reviews, including from ex-Liverpool man Steven Gerrard, and looks to be the next star in the making for England.

However, with only a year left on his contract, Aston Villa could lose the youngster to a bigger club where he has more potential for growth.

Who is Liverpool and Barcelona target Carney Chukwuemeka?

Chukwuemka has faith in his ability and believes that he can play top-flight football soon. Some reports even suggest that he might take a Jadon Sancho/Jude Bellingham route, where he moves to Germany for first-team top-flight football.

However, with clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona in the mix, we could very well see the youngster move to a fellow English club or to the Spanish top flight.

Arsenal have focused on signing young players for the first team and it is an approach that, under Mikel Arteta, has worked well. Players like Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe are all part of the first team.

For Liverpool on the other hand, Chukwuemka will fit the FSG’s transfer policies very well. FSG love to sign players below their prime. This way, they can help promote their growth at Anfield and make them stars of the game.

Some of their recent signing in this category include Harvey Elliot, Darwin Nunez, Calvin Ramsey and Fabio Carvalho.

Barcelona on the other hand are known for nurturing young talent, especially ones that come through their academy system. Some of the current players to come out of the academy include Gavi and Nico Gonzalez.

With the Catalan club being in financial problems, signing a young player like Chukwuemka could benefit the club in both the short term and long term.

With Liverpool said to be leading the race for the youngster, who do you think will end up signing Chukwuemka? And if you were in Chukwuemka’s place, which club would you choose?
