Chelsea are in the market for a new winger and have been linked with a number of players including big names like Raheem Sterling, however, they have not been able to sign anyone till now.

Recent reports are now linking the Blues to Paris St-Germain’s superstar, Neymar Junior.

According to Goal.com, PSG are willing to let the Brazilian superstar leave Paris in the summer transfer window.

The report states:

"Paris Saint-Germain are open to selling Neymar during the summer transfer window if an acceptable bid is lodgedVia Goal.com"

Thomas Tuchel to reunite with Neymar at Chelsea?

Chelsea are said to be one of the many clubs interested in the winger as Thomas Tuchel has worked with him before and understands him well.

After PSG’s embarrassing exit in the Champions League against Real Madrid, a huge shake-up is on its way in Paris. Mauricio Pochettino is already on his way out of the club, with Lucas Ocampos being appointed the new sporting director.

Part of this shake-up as reports suggest may be the sale of Neymar Junior.

Neymar was bought for a world record fee of £198m in the summer of 2017, but he failed to reach the heights that people expected him to with such a hefty fee.

Neymar Jr’s 2021/22 campaign

He played 92 games for Paris Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1, scoring 69 goals and assisting a further 37. Not bad, right? For any other player these statistics would be amazing, but not for Neymar.

The reason why Neymar was bought was to win the prestigious champions league, a tournament that PSG have never won. And Neymar failed to bring that to Paris.

The report from GOAL also talked about Neymar’s work rate in Paris,

"The Brazilian player’s attitude and on-field stagnation have been scrutinised by the club. Mbappe’s decision to remain at PSG may also play into any decision-making process involving Neymar’s future, with the France international thought to have some sway in transfer policy and squad matters following his lucrative new deal. Now given the financial status of other leagues in Europe, Premier League looks like the most likely destination for Neymar.

Chelsea are said to be leading the race for the 30-year-old, but clubs like recently rich Newcastle United are also said to be in the hunt for him.

Romelu Lukaku has recently left Chelsea for Inter Milan and Armando Broja is also linked with a move away to West Ham. This leaves Chelsea needing attacking reinforcements this summer.

As mentioned before, Chelsea are also linked with Raheem Sterling, who Tuchel sees as someone who could fit into his system perfectly.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are seen as potential suitors for the Brazilian, however their financial status may not allow them to purchase the 30-year-old.

The report also suggests that Neymar wants to stay in Paris.
