It has so far been a barren transfer window for fans of Leicester City with their club offering little to nothing in the way of rumours to feed their anticipation for the 2022/23 campaign.

Speculation concerning the Foxes’ proposed business has been centred around the movement, or lack thereof, of midfielder Youri Tielemans.

Tielemans, who is out of contract upon the conclusion of next season, has been embroiled in a back and forth with Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Negotiations appear to have hit a standstill, in effect putting Leicester’s potential incomings on hold as they wait for the money accrued in his sale.

That being said, and undoubtedly to the delight of their supporters, the East Midlands club are reported to be interested in Rennes duo Benjamin Bourigeaud and Martin Terrier.

French outlet Jeunes Footeux, as quoted by Sport Witness, states that manager Brendan Rodgers has kept a close eye on Bourigeaud, 28, after being impressed when the two sides met in the UEFA Conference League.

Rodgers’ men beat Rennes 3-2 over two legs with the French native scoring the first in the second leg to ensure his potential future boss couldn’t rest on his laurels.

The article goes on to suggest an offer could be tabled in the coming days with higher-ups at the King Power Stadium encouraged by Bourigeaud only having a year left on his contract.

Furthermore, compatriot Martin Terrier is also thought to have caught Rodgers’ eye and the reasons for why are clear.

Who are Leicester City transfer targets Benjamin Bourigeaud and Martin Terrier?

Both household names in the French top-flight and equally versatile in their respective positioning, Benjamin Bourigeaud is a wide midfielder by trade while Martin Terrier plays as a striker.

Terrier finished the season tied third top goal-scorer in Ligue 1 last season with 21 goals behind only Wissam Ben Yedder and Kylian Mbappe.

The 25-year-old favours balls in behind similarly to Foxes’ legend Jamie Vardy and possesses an industrious nature that could be likened to him also.

A player of Bourigeaud’s profile will be of most interest to the Leicester faithful, however. A winger that relies on his acumen both in and out of possession, the former RC Lens man could spell the end of their woes on the right flank.

Since the departure of Riyad Mahrez in 2018, Leicester City have failed to find a replacement capable of laying claim to the position.

Veteran Marc Albrighton has been an admirable servant but often appears ill-equipped to the fast-paced demands of the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers’ propensity to field Albrighton is due to his defensive capabilities which provide balance with an attack-minded option such as Harvey Barnes on the opposite flank.

Therefore, it isn’t a surprise the Northern Irish head coach has targeted Bourigeaud who is adept at holding his position to provide defensive cover.

A centre-back and central midfielder are also on Leicester City’s list of priority positions in regard to reinforcements with Ademola Lookman also expected to make his loan from RB Leipzig permanent.
