Leeds United’s Newest Signing Marc Roca: Analysis

Marc Roca’s Defensive Game
While his defensive game is not his strongest attribute, he does plug gaps and cut off passing lanes. At Espanyol, he averaged 2.54 tackles and 0.90 interceptions per 90. His long legs certainly help with interceptions and wrapping his foot around tackles from various angles.
His defensive awareness is also brilliant as he rarely ball watches and is able to position himself well. If Leeds United do play a narrow game again this season, this would be very beneficial for them.
While he does lack physicality unlike Kalvin Phillips, who is heavily linked to Manchester City, he will still be a very good addition to the Whites.
His lack of game time in the last few seasons could be a reason for concern though and how quickly he adapts to the Premier League will be key. Despite the shortcomings, Marc Roca will be, in my opinion, a good signing for this Leeds United squad.
