1) Erling Haaland
Manchester City. Expected Fantasy Premier League price: 11.5m

We start with an incredibly easy recommendation. Haaland’s move to join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has the potential for him to instantly shake up the premiums in FPL.

In his final season for Dortmund, Haaland featured in 24 league games and scored 22 goals, adding another 8 assists. He averaged 1.04 goals, 0.83 xG and 0.27 xA per 90 minutes across that league campaign. His non-penalty xG number sits at 0.61 per 90, which is still mightily impressive, especially for a man with a career pattern of lethal finishing.

Erling Haaland is joining a goalscoring machine: Manchester City

He’s joining a Manchester City outfit that have been in the top 2 for best attacks in the league for 4 seasons now and scores a high number of goals each campaign. They have a mixed record with penalties meaning: there’s every chance Haaland could also be on penalty duties for City.

While his injury record is mildly concerning, I’d imagine he’s a player that Pep Guardiola won’t rotate quite as much as others when fit meaning: he’s an easy choice when fit.

We’ve seen high-scoring Bundesliga talents like Werner, Sancho, and Haller struggle in their first season in the Premier League, there’s something in the almost machine-like ruthless efficiency and hunger Haaland displays in front of goal that makes me think that his adjustment could be sooner.

A definite contender for a huge FPL asset in 2022/2023.
