Romelu Lukaku’s wish to one day return to the San Siro could take place a lot sooner than most anticipated with word out he, Chelsea, and Inter Milan are all willing to seal a deal this summer. However, it can only be a loan deal with a couple of creases needed to be ironed out before they can finalise a move.

It appears Chelsea are working on plans with or without their most expensive signing involved for next season. Lukaku’s return to Stamford Bridge was supposed to be a fairytale return, instead, it was one he will want to put behind him as quickly as he can.

Due to an unsuccessful campaign in the Premier League where he struggled to find a rhythm and because of the change in ownership, plans at the top end of the pitch could be altered to allow for players more suitable to Thomas Tuchel’s style of play to come in during the summer.

Romelu Lukaku’s Plan to Go Back to Italy Is No Secret

In fact, the Belgian made a public statement about his love for the San Siro and the fans and that one day he sees himself back in the Serie A fighting for I Nerazzurri. This public announcement was untimely, to say the least.

It did not help his cause at the club and with a couple of injuries on the way to the end of the season coupled with the fact he couldn’t score in 31 outings, Chelsea could consider now as a good time to move him on; maybe let him gain some confidence or raise his price tag for a potential sale after a loan deal in the next summer window.

Inter Happy to Take Lukaku Back From Chelsea

The Italian side are more than happy to entertain the idea of him coming back but wants the Blues to pay his full salary of £325k-per-week; a part of the deal they cannot get past and one of the other reasons he can only join them on loan.

"Romelu Lukaku ‘can only leave Chelsea on LOAN with a “normalised salary” largely funded by the club’ – with any return to Inter Milan currently ‘tangled by change in ownership at Stamford Bridge and a potential change in his agent’.Inter Milan are interested in re-signing striker Romelu Lukaku in a loan deal. The Belgian has failed to adjust at Chelsea since his £97.5million move. The Nerazzurri hope Chelsea will reach agreement to fund a ‘normalised salary’.Lukaku’s £325k-a-week contract is a massive hurdle in completing a loan move. The 29-year-old is reportedly set to split from his agent at the end of the month.(Via: dailymail.co.uk)"

This move, judging by the past two seasons, would suit all parties involved. However, the Blues cannot sell him, as they will encounter too many losses after paying the whopping £97.7m they paid for a player they sold for £28 million to Everton back in 2014.

Another couple of hurdles that must be passed before a deal can move forward is said to be the player’s agent and the new owners at Chelsea, who will want to assess their squad and potential transfers, incoming and outgoing; Lukaku has also been considering a change in his entourage since the news broke.

As of now, news has been changing rapidly about Lukaka’s situation and it is believed that his lawyer will now meet with the Italian side and discuss the way forward. Chelsea have still not structured a deal and will want the best possible arrangement for them not to lose out on the 90m plus they spent on him just a season ago.
