Tottenham Hotspur’s 2021-22 season was ultimately a major success. The season looked grim at times with a number of poor losses to teams such as Burnley, Brighton, and Southampton.

However, despite this, they were able to achieve their goal of qualifying for the Champions League after finishing in 4th place, making it the first time they have finished inside the top four since 2019.

Champions elect Manchester City lost just three games throughout the season, but two of those losses were against Spurs, who played terrifically well against the champions and just seemed to have their number.

Spurs also held runners-up Liverpool twice, and the two points dropped by Liverpool against Spurs on May 7 proved pivotal as Liverpool would go on to lose the title by just 1 point.

Another one of Tottenham’s biggest wins of the year was the late-season showdown against the other team vying for fourth place, Arsenal, a game in which Spurs won 3-0.

While Spurs were in a close race for the top four throughout the season, this victory was massive, as – under pressure – Arsenal would then go on to lose to Newcastle in their penultimate game.

Spurs went into the final day needing just one point against last-place Norwich to secure Champions League football next season. They won the game 5-0.
