Chelsea may look to cash in on midfielder N’Golo Kante in the summer with a move to another Premier League club a possibility.

The future of Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante has been thrown into doubt after reports surface suggesting his current side may look to part ways with the midfielder.

Perceived as untouchable from outsiders looking in, Kante has enjoyed vast amounts of success since joining the West-London side from Leicester City in 2016.

Hardly a steady ship at the best of times, his eight-year stint at Chelsea has gone alongside turbulence off the pitch with the Frenchman playing under four different managers.

Despite the latter and having to deal with several position changes, the 31-year-old’s involvement has remained a constant, winning a Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in the process.

The 2021/22 campaign was arguably his most difficult from a fitness standpoint, however, with niggling injuries forcing him to miss nearly half of the Premier League season.

Whether there is any correlation with the above is unclear, but Sky Sports Germany have today reported that Kante’s potential departure has been discussed for weeks as the club remains wary of the precarious nature of his contract situation.

Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante dilemma

N’Golo Kante’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season which puts Chelsea in a dilemma whether to cash in or risk losing the player for free.

Whether his effectiveness when fighting fit has decreased is up for debate, although, Kante’s ability to sustain that level has certainly dipped in recent seasons.

Manager Thomas Tuchel will welcome the return of Conor Gallagher in preseason after an impressive loan spell with Crystal Palace, potentially contributing to Chelsea’s impartiality regarding the aforesaid’s departure.

"“I think he is our key, key, key player; but key, key, key players need to be on the pitch,” Tuchel said this month, highlighting his frustration at Kanté’s struggle for consistency.“He plays only 40% of the games. So it’s maybe a miracle that we arrived in third place. Because he is our Mo Salah, he is our [Virgil] van Dijk, he is our [Kevin] De Bruyne. He is our Neymar, he is our Kylian Mbappé; he is the guy who makes the difference. And if you only have him 40% it’s a huge problem.”Via: Guardian"

Considering his resume, if to leave, Kante will not be short of potential suitors and rumours surrounding who that may be are already coming to light.
