David Raum – Hoffenheim (24)

This pick might be a luxury one, given that it’s a left-back option that will surely be an understudy to Ben Chilwell should he come back fully fit and healthy next season. However, Raum is a player who I’m certain has been mentioned by Tuchel and his staff.

With a wand of a left foot, Raum has tallied 11 assists in the Bundesliga and is undoubtedly the left-back of the season in the German top-flight. Racking up a remarkable 2.45 passes into the penalty area per 90 which equates to him being in the 99th percentile here. Fbref also places him in the upper echelon of fullbacks in his KeyPasses90 (passes leading to shots per 90 minutes) with 2.67.

His crosses are a trademark trait for him  and it has earned him his first caps for the national team this season. This is ideal for Chelsea and their wing-back dominated shape. Most of his passes are received in the box and he accounts for 5.94 crosses per 90.

David Raum can be thought of as a more agile and defensively active version of what Chelsea have in Marcos Alonso and should the latter be headed out the door this summer, Raum can be a great option should the idea of a premium backup be something of interest to the team.
