Mohamed Salah has made it clear that Liverpool will remain his home for the coming season and has squashed any further questions about his contract situation at the club.

This was all revealed in the Reds’ Champions League pre-match press conference he participated in, where he confirmed the good news that he will be staying at Liverpool for another season.

Salah Spoke Confidently in the Press Conference and Said:

"In my mind, I don’t focus on the contract. I don’t want to be selfish at all. I said two months ago it’s about the team. It’s an important week for us.I’m just focused on the team and winning the Champions League again. I want to see Hendo [Jordan Henderson] with the trophy in the hands and hopefully he gives it to me. I don’t want to talk about the contract now, I’m staying next season for sure, that’s clear.(Via: skysports.com)"

Not exactly the news that Liverpool fans are waiting for but it will do for now. Mo Salah and his contract with the club have long been the debate at Anfield.

His current deal with them runs until June 2023 and talks of an extension have been on and off, even going as far as suggesting the player and club have reached an impasse in discussion and ultimately have been put on hold.

Once on hold, rumours and links to PSG and Real Madrid picked up pace quickly, with the former willing to offer Salah what he wants, and that is a big salary adjustment in the £400k mark. He is currently the Reds’ highest earner, bringing home 200k-per-week, the third joint-most in the team.

But being the club’s most valuable asset upfront, he believes he is entitled to more than that. Also, having just won the Premier League Golden Boot for the third time in his career and the Premier League playmaker award for the first time, he makes a strong case.

This season he topped the charts with 23 goals and 13 assists in 35 league appearances for his club, helping them to a second-place finish. The Ligue 1 champs were willing to match his asking and offer him a record-breaking contract.

Now he is only focused on what’s ahead and that is the Champions League Final in Paris where they will play, in Mo Salah’s mind, a revenge match with Real Madrid.

As per Marca: Paris Saint-Germain could have withdrawn their interest for two reasons. The first reason is, that they have tired Kylian Mbappe down to a contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2025. The second reason is, that the Egyptian King has reached an agreement with Liverpool in secret.

The deal, not announced yet, will see him become the club’s best earner, one of the Premier League’s best-paid players, as well as see him break the Reds’ wage policy.

"Many reports have suggested that Salah has finally come to an agreement with Liverpool, although there has been no official announcement yet. Paris Saint-Germain were rumoured to have made a record-breaking offer to the forward, but it seems his future lies in England. As of February 2022, Salah’s projected net worth is thought to be around 88 million. His old deal at Liverpool was worth 240 thousand euros-per-week, but reports have claimed that his new contract will see him earn around 400 thousand per week, making him one of the highest paid players in the Premier League.(Via: marca.com)"

How true can the news be that he has re-signed with the club that has brought out the best in him? Could Jurgen Klopp’s contract extension have been key in the decision making of the players who are nearing the end of their respective deals?

For now, one will not get any of these questions answered but at least Liverpool fans got some breathing room regarding the future of one of their best players in the Premier League era.
