Phil Foden:

Once touted as the most talented player Pep Guardiola had seen in his career, Phil Foden had the weight of the world on his shoulders as he embarked on his senior career.

Through watching his performances, however, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a local lad playing on the park with his mates.

While it can’t be described as a breakout season per se, considering it’s his fifth season in the Premier League, the consistency shown by the 21-year-old has been beyond anything he had shown prior.

Last campaign’s winner of the award has matched his output of 14 goal involvements this time around despite being forced to play in unfamiliar roles such as a false 9 in the absence of an out-and-out striker.

Another player on the list to experience Champions League heartbreak at the hands of Madrid, to ease the pain Foden is on course for his fourth English top-flight title.

“He has an incredible shot and he’s a fantastic player,” his manager said after Foden scored to help Man City beat Southampton in the FA Cup.

"“He has a sense of goal, he goes to the box … he was really brilliant. There are a few in the world who can score a goal like that, not many, but a few. One of them, we have.” Via: Manchester Evening News"
