Chelsea’s Reece James has become a top target for Real Madrid in the summer as they look to start replacing an aging backline, but only from 2023 onwards.

Chelsea could be well restored when the summer comes or they could have trouble keeping hold of their top stars in the first-team squad. It all depends on how long it takes to sort out the buying of the club.

Will Chelsea struggle to hold onto Reece James?

So far, the Blues are almost certain to lose the trio of Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Andreas Christensen to teams outside of the Premier League; the former is linked with Real Madrid as well, while their rivals Barcelona are looking for a double steal of the latter two.

Moving on from the revelation that Rudiger is not prepared to renew his deal with the London club and that Madrid is close to reaching an agreement with him, reports suggest that the club from the Spanish capital has made an early approach for the young Englishman, Reece James.

Adding misery to the Blues: Reece James and the club have reached an impasse on a contract extension, which Los Blancos are looking to take advantage of. However, they see him as a signing for the 2023 summer window, as per Goal.com.

Reece James is hot property

The Chelsea fullback is a hot prospect and at 22 years of age is seen as a long-term target. Madrid has a pair of 30-year-olds taking up the reigns at right-back and could be looking to the future now already.

James, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool and Joao Cancelo from Manchester City, is regarded as the best in the business. With the West London club still up for sale and new owners far from decided, the perfect opportunity presents itself to steal him away from Stamford Bridge.

The other pair mentioned, Trent and Joao, are with two of the best performing clubs in Europe at the moment and it will take a lot of convincing to leave the club. Reece again becomes the perfect target for big clubs.

As it was before the season kicked off, so is it will remain for Los Blancos; they are only concentrating on bringing in Kylian Mbappe and working on a CB signing. The only other club interested in Reece James is said to be Manchester City.

West Ham and Villa are interested in signing Rodriguez. light. More

Chelsea will not let one of their blue-eyed boys go easily and will try in every which way to sort his contract out before others, as he is quite important to them.
