RB Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi, a summer target for Liverpool and other Premier League clubs, is said to be on his way to German in a move that sees him join Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund is a few steps away from capturing the signature of forward, Karim Adeyemi. They are probably and should be in the search to replace the potential outgoing of Erling Haaland, who is poised to join Manchester City or Real Madrid this summer or the next.

If either of the abovementioned interested parties fails to capture his signature, Haaland will possibly choose to stay at the Signal Iduna Park for another season, leaving BVB with a great second option in Adeyemi.

If he does leave, Karim Adeyemi will come in and take over as the new leading man—following in Haaland’s footsteps as well.

"Karim Adeyemi has picked Borussia Dortmund as his next destination but the German club cannot agree a fee with the striker’s club RB Salzburg, according to reports. The 20-year-old striker has been in excellent form in Austria this season, scoring 14 goals in 17 matches in the country’s top-flight, while he also scored three times to help Salzburg reach the Champions League knockouts for the first time ever.German wonderkid Adeyemi has been strongly linked with a transfer to Signal Iduna Park and a move to Dortmund would allow the young forward to follow in the footsteps of Erling Haaland – who made the same switch at the start of 2020. Making an Adeyemi-Dortmund deal ever the more confident, RB Salzburg is said to have signed his replacement, Fernando from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Dortmund working on an Adeyemi clause

Truth be told: they are actually working on a deal that sees him join with no release clause attached, according to Borussia Dortmund CEO Watzke—learning from the Erling Haaland mistake—as they must concede in losing him for as little as €75m (£63m) due to him having a release clause in his agreement.

Personal terms have already been agreed upon but there is still work to be done on the deal between the pair of clubs, Dortmund and RB Salzburg. The latter’s director confirmed this further stating it will be a long-term deal.

Adeyemi while in Austria, has made a name for himself around Europe with some stunning showings. He has helped Red Bull Salzburg to retain their Austrian Bundesliga trophy with 17 goals and three assists in 27 appearances.

Liverpool was heavily linked with Adeyemi

Of all clubs in the Premier League, the Reds saw him as the perfect fit. Young, athletic, and a like-for-like replacement if any of their aging front three decides they want a new challenge.

It was also not guaranteed that the Reds would still entertain a Karim Adeyemi transfer. Having just signed Luis Diaz from FC Porto, one can only expect them to first sell before signing anybody new. If their top crop decides to stay put and extend their respective contracts, nobody is getting into the first team.

However, Divock Origi and other fringe players are on their way out. So replenishing is required anyway. Barcelona was also keen on the Salzberg star but will have to search elsewhere now, maybe continue with their raid on Chelsea.
