Borussia Dortmund believes it is Manchester City who will eventually win the race for the most sought after striker in the game today, Erling Haaland; the Germans go on to claim the forward is in line to receive a whopping £500k-a-week deal if/when he joins City.

Top teams around Europe which include, Barcelona, Manchester City, Real Madrid, as well as his current employees Borussia Dortmund are waiting for Erling Haaland’s final decision on where his future lies.

With the years running down on his present contract, which concludes 2024, clubs know now is the right time to move in for the Norwegian. Standing in any of the potential buyer’s favour is that his BVB contract has a release clause that allows him to leave for £63.2m this summer.

"Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all spoken to Erling Braut Haaland and are awaiting a decision on his future in the next 10 days, reports Guillem Balague. The Borussia Dortmund striker’s contract expires in 2024 but a release clause allows the 21-year-old to leave for £63.2m this summer."

Erling Haaland has spoken to all interested parties

The BBC reports that the offer for him has been simple since all parties are trying not to make it about “money”. Respective suitors introduced their package, gameplan involving him, and other convincing chips.

"The clubs presented their projects, how they are going to play, how they will use him and everybody who is anybody in those clubs has been part of those discussions, including managers and directors.Staying put at Dortmund is still a possibility and if he does that it means he will stay for another year and then go to Madrid or Barcelona, because ultimately he wants to go to La Liga."

Now it is in Haaland’s hands, for where his next step in his career will be. A stay at the North Rhine-Westphalia club, as it always been since the exit rumours, has not been ruled out. With this in mind, BVB still thinks they are second best or another runner-up to the oil-rich, Man City.

Sky Sports states Man City have all the tools to offer the 21-year-old the next best project in his footballing career. They are searching for their Sergio Aguero replacement and Harry Kane alternative — after failing to land him in the summer transfer window last year.

Manchester City’s biggest Erling Haaland rivals

The word is: his first choice is none other than Real Madrid. However, they want to seal the deal for Kylian Mbappe before any other transfers. Los Blancos has made it very clear they do not want to take the attention away from the arrival of Mbappe and make him the marquee signing of the summer coming up.

"Real Madrid are his number one choice, but City are playing on the fact that at Madrid there is Kylian Mbappe almost certainly arriving in the summer and Karim Benzema is still doing well as their main striker. And they are pointing out that Barca aren’t in a position to challenge for all the titles at the moment. (Via: BBC Sports)"

This could perhaps work in BVB’s favour and it sees him stay in Germany for one more season and then move to the Spanish capital. City’s deep pockets will play a massive role in them convincing the Etihad should be his next choice over the Bernabéu.

If Man City pulls off the deal, Erling Haaland will eclipse many of the Premier League stars and will become the second-best earner behind Cristiano Ronaldo — that is if he stays at neighbours United next season — if Ronalod leaves Old Trafford, he will be the best-paid player.
