Spurs winter business paying off: Conte praises January arrival for his contribution
Yes, it has been a hot and cold run for Tottenham under new manager Antonio Conte but there has been a massive positive for Spurs fans to look forward to each weekend and that is January addition, Dejan Kulusevski.
Antonio Conte’s men were ruthless when they travelled to Elland Road for a matchup against Leeds United. They didn’t hesitate at the chance to bounce back to winning ways against a wounded Premier League side.
The four goals scored by Matt Doherty, the man in discussion Kulusevski, Harry Kane and Son, ultimately decided Marcelo Bielsa’s fate, as he was sacked and is being replaced with former RB Salzberg boss, Jesse Marsch.
Dejan Kulusevski’s displayed all his qualities in one Spurs goal!
Kulusevski’s first for him on the day, second for Spurs in the match, was also his second for his club since joining. It showcased so many qualities we have to look forward to while he is in North London playing alongside the league’s deadliest duo, Kane and Son.
His holdup play, close control, touch and go, ability to play the one-two with ease, as well as run into space intelligently, then finish the move off in Kane style. Even the Italian boss had to come out and commended him for his quality on the day.
Antonio Conte on Spurs new man Dejan Kulusevski:
"today to speak about only one player is very difficult for me because every single player they made a fantastic performance. For sure, Kulusevski played an amazing game. He’s only 21 years old, but despite this, he has good experience, because when you play with Juventus you have to manage a lot of pressure in Italy. He’s a good signing for us. He’s strong physically, good technically. It’s very difficult to speak about only one player. Sonny was fantastic today. Harry… I think to speak about Harry’s performance, what can I tell you about him? (Laughs) He was fantastic. But the two midfielders, the defensive line, the keeper, it was good. The people that came in from the bench. For sure when you win against Manchester City it means you played a perfect game. (Via: football.london.com)"
Since arriving from Juventus in a double deadline day deal, he has featured six times across all competitions for Tottenham, scoring two and assisting another one. If he keeps it up it could force the North Londoners to act and make his 18-month loan deal a permanent one.
