Manchester United have named PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax’s Erik ten Hag as their leading contenders for the manager’s job that will become available at the end of the season.
It is no surprise that Man United have named Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag as the club’s potential new manager; the two have been in the running for the job since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge at Old Trafford.
"Mauricio Pochettino remains Manchester United’s primary target for the head coach role, as Ralf Rangnick is not expected to be in the dugout for next season. The Argentine coach tops Richard Arnold’s shortlist, while Manchester United’s players are also fond of Pochettino’s coaching virtues and they have communicated to the club’s CEO their wish to see him join the Red Devils.Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, several Manchester United directors as well as interim coach Rangnick are of fond Erik Ten Hag’s attributes and they have placed him as one of main candidates to succeed the German tactician. With the current interim boss Ralf Rangnick changing his role by the time summer hits, the job will be vacant and a new man must be put in place. It was also said the club will start working on announcing the new manager appointment in good time to have a proper preseason and a productive transfer window.
"Interesting summer ahead for those associated with Manchester United. Before they can look onwards, a new manager needs to be assigned. Thankfully, they are well underway in their search for a new man to take over at the helm — wanting a manager to be announced before preseason kicks-off. (Via: thetopflight.com)"
Reports point towards a Pochettino snub for Manchester United
Although there have been multiple reports suggesting that both men are still in the running, some outlets believe the Red Devils will snub a move for Pochettino and hire ten Hag instead.
The board and current stand-in manager, Rangnick, are very fond of the Dutchman’s work and see him as the perfect candidate to take the club into its new era.
Manchester United are currently where they need to be and that is in fourth place in the Premier League standings but they are hanging on a thread there, following a couple of questionable performances.
Arsenal, who sit in sixth place and two points behind them, have three games in hand. West Ham United is the club between them and who United are also two points ahead of.
