Manchester City’s striker situation could be solved in the summer and the solution to this could see Gabriel Jesus sold to Inter Milan or even used as a trade for San Siro hitman, Lautaro Martinez.
Recently, Lautaro Martinez’s agent publicised that his client is more than happy at Internazionale and the Italian club should have no concerns about a potential exit. Supporting his statement, the Serie A champions recently tied him down to a new contract last year October.
"Lautaro Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano on Man Utd, Barça and other rumours: “There are no problems. Lautaro Martinez is not gonna leave as he’s really happy at Inter”, he told @fcin1908it.“Lautaro’s not worried with his current situation”, he added."
His new deal runs out in 2026 and since signing, the rumours that circulated the forward prior to his contract extension suddenly died down. That is until now though, with Pep Guardiola interested in bringing in the next Argentine to fill the void left by the other Argentine, Sergio Aguero.
He wants to do this by using Gabriel Jesus as a potential sale or as a pawn in a trade for Martinez and obviously a cash difference along with Jesus if need be. Inter are said to be interested in the City striker and a deal could please all parties involved.
Having failed on a Harry Kane deal last summer and a Tottenham stay for the Englishman growing increasingly likely, Man City needs to continue their search elsewhere. Sadly, all that has been said has not opened the door of opportunity for the Brazilian already at the club.
"Inter Milan are among several European sides said to be monitoring Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus. The 24-year-old has just 16 months left on his current deal at the Etihad and Pep Guardiola’s side could look to cash in on the Brazilian this summer unless they can agree to an extension.Inter will be primed to make a move and are likely to lead the race for his signature if Jesus becomes available, reports The Sun.The Serie A side are said to be long-term admirers of the forward and will be set to pounce if his future in Manchester remains unresolved. Is Jesus not good enough to lead the line for Manchester City?
Sadly, according to Pep’s team selection since losing City’s top goalscorer, the simple answer is no. He has preferred to deploy Jesus on either side of the attacking line this season and when the now-departed Ferran Torres was fit for selection, the Spaniard got the nod over the Brazilian in the false 9 role.
Influencing a sale even more for City, Gabriel Jesus is in the final 16 months of his contract and to cash in now would represent the smarter business. The risk of losing him on a free, later on, is quite high.
Inter are said to be one of many clubs monitoring the situation at the Etihad and are keeping close tabs on Jesus. Despite finding it difficult trying to impress Guardiola his numbers this season speak for itself — that and his time in the Premier League have been quite fruitful for City.
In his 25 appearances, 16 of them being starts, he has six goals and eight assists. In his overall time in Manchester, he has accumulated 88 goals and 38 assists in 220 appearances. Quite the asset but not what Pep wants in a striker?
