The fixture landscape for the rest of the Fantasy Premier League season

Gameweek 26 is a reasonably large Double Gameweek (DGW) with 8 sides playing twice within the same Gameweek of fixtures.

This is followed by gameweek 27 (GW27) where, due to the Carabao Cup final, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal do NOT play a game and thus have a Blank Gameweek (BGW) i.e. their players score no points while Burnley play twice and every other team play once within that GW.

There is an UNCONFIRMED but strong possibility of Arsenal and Chelsea playing each other as an added fixture into GW28 thus giving those two teams a DGW.

Up ahead, GW30 corresponds with the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, meaning that teams who win their Round of 16 FA Cup tie will have their fixture likely removed from GW30 making it a blank for those teams. Given how the FA Cup Quarterfinal draw has gone, it suggests that Premier League teams have, on the whole, been given a kind fixture and their likelihood of progressing is high.

Teams already knocked out of the FA Cup have their fixture confirmed to go ahead that week already and that includes just 3 games at the moment, Wolves vs. Leeds, Aston Villa vs. Arsenal, and Leicester vs. Brentford. This gameweek could end up with only 3 or 4 fixtures in total.

Gameweek 33 corresponds to the semifinals of the FA Cup so teams making it this far will have their fixtures postponed but the availability of a free midweek means there is a possibility that those games could be postponed a few days but REMAIN within the same GW.

Thus GW33 — while hard to predict — could end up being a mixture of some teams playing twice, some once, and some with no games. We might have an update on this only in and around GW31.

Additionally, due to a whole bunch of COVID-related postponements in the past few months, there could be lots of mini-DGWs between Gameweek 31 and 36 while Gameweek 36.

Team’s that have a fixture postponement in GW30 are likely to have it rescheduled in or around GW36 making that a potentially larger DGW similar to GW26 currently.
