This is the point in the season in Fantasy Premier League where Cup and other previous postponements cause blank and double gameweeks to come thick and fast.

What does this mean to FPL managers? Potentially the best opportunity to deploy chips and gain rank and a whole bunch of planning to navigate gameweeks optimally!

At this point of the season, FPL managers could have all, none or any combination of a Wildcard, Triple Captain, Bench boost, and up to 2 Free Hits still available to them.

The potential gains from these ‘Chips’ and the number of them available make it crucial to plan their usage to the optimal benefit of each manager’s own squad.

This means that there will be no single best strategy for chip usage. Each manager’s optimal chip strategy will depend on the structure of their squad and their long-term plan.

This is what makes the game so interesting at this stage of the season! Squads finally start to diverge and look very different from one another while swings are amplified by different captains and chips used!

I’m broadly going to discuss the probable landscape of fixtures up ahead and suggest some blanket strategies to use chips available to FPL managers — the best chip strategy for you depends on your current squad!

MASSIVE UPDATE!!

Six extra fixtures have been announced into each of GW28 and GW29 making both a good-size DGW. This is important towards planning and chip strategies especially because teams with DGW’s in either GW28 or 29 include Arsenal, Wolves, Leeds and Aston Villa — all of who have a confirmed fixture going ahead in the reduced GW30.

If Southampton loses to West Ham in the FA Cup, there’s a chance Southampton and Burnley have a game going ahead in GW30 too. The Saints are another side with a good DGW just preceding 30.

This opens up a lot of opportunities to use a wildcard or transfers to plan for those double gameweeks while then having those players playing in GW30 and not needing to Free Hit that week such as those from Arsenal, Leeds, Wolves, and Aston Villa.

Liverpool also have a double gameweek in GW29 providing another potential opportunity to use Triple Captain on Mo Salah while either of these 2 DGWs are a good chance to Bench Boost if your bench might meet the 16-20 expected points threshold! Happy planning!
