Ousmane Dembele’s contract standoff with Barcelona came to end this week, as the club made the decision to move on form the player, stating they would attempt to complete a transfer by the end of January.

It is rumoured that wage demands and certain contract clauses were the main reason for the stand still in discussions, with the Blaugrana not in the position to offer Dembele more money. Barcelona’s decision brings an end to the wingers injury hit time at the Camp Nou, and with it ignites an already hectic transfer cloud around him.

Is the Frenchman Premier League bound?

As rumours of the 24-year-old’s contract dispute circled, many teams names have been thrown into the hat, a lot of those names come from the Premier League.

One of the surprise packages of the round, is newly influenced Newcastle United. Money is no longer an issue for the club, though Dembele denied money is his motivation, it could be a way to pull the player to the club. It would be a big step down, but it could be a project that excited the Frenchman, and give him the chance to be a talisman of a team.

The longest link belongs to Manchester United. A team that has long been in need of new attacking threats, despite forking out on Jadon Sancho last year, Dembele could be the x-factor to get United off the ground.

A big connection that has been mentioned is Chelsea, with Blues boss Thomas Tuchel managing the player, all be it for less than a year, at Borussia Dortmund.
