Anthony Martial looks to have finally escaped Manchester United, as he secures a loan move to La Liga club Sevilla.
Before the start of the window Martial made his feelings at the club known, announcing he wanted to leave the club immediately, with rumours that the Frenchman then refused to play in a Premier League game against Aston Villa, with boss Ralf Rangnick stating he did not want to be part of the first team. The forward would later deny that this was the case.
Martial stated he wanted to leave the club due to lack of playing time and he seems to have got his wish. Reports say that an agreement has been has been made between United and Sevilla that will see the player head out to Spain for the remainder of the season.
The loan temporarily ends the Frenchman’s seven year spell in Manchester, where he scored 79 goals in 269 appearances, but only made 11 this campaign.
United paid £36 million for the now 26-year-old in 2015, but despite several positive years at Old Trafford, the players form and amount of playing time has fallen over the last two seasons.
Sevilla have touted Martial for sometime, and interest in the deal has been mutual with player and club, with the Frenchman picking the Spanish team as the best place for him reignite his career.
It is understood there is no option to buy clause in the loan deal, which means should his time at Sevilla go well, a permanent deal will have to agreed separately.
