Coming in with no surprise, it is believed that Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, wants to join Real Madrid once his contract expires at the end of the season — oh so they say.

The saga that has continued for years on end could and should finally come to an end in the summer. Paul Pogba, who is in the final six months of his contract is free to talk to clubs outside of the Premier League and despite Man United having a new deal on the table, rumours still point towards the exit door for the Frenchman.

The new deal was tabled months ago, but him not signing is a clear indication, he will hit the road after his contract concludes.

Manchester United happy to see Paul Pogba leave for free

As per the Daily Mail and many other outlets: Paul Pogba has met with the club’s hierarchy and has decided against staying at Old Trafford, wanting to complete his dream move to Los Blancos.

Pogba has toyed with a Man United exit for consecutive transfer windows and has always flirted with or entertained the idea of joining Real Madrid — if it was not the La Liga giants — then it would have been a return to Serie A with his beloved Juventus or a trip to his homeland France to join PSG.

Ralf Rangnick reckoned…

The Red Devils’ boss believes the Premier League club could benefit and still profit from a potential Pogba exit this season, as the player will need to impress on-field if he wants to solidify his free transfer to a new club — a top club, specifically.

Ralf Rangnick on the contract situation at the club:

"It’s not a question if a player has an expiring contract, the question is how much does he still want to be a part of this group, how much does he still feel emotionally and physically on board. As long as this is the case, why shouldn’t Paul Pogba now, after two and a half months of injury, fully fit again, and he wants to show the fans of Manchester United, the board, the whole world what kind of player he can be?Even if it’s only to show enough for a new contract elsewhere, he will be highly motivated to do that and why should I then not play him?But there is a difference in how players deal with their current situation. If they handle that in a professional way, an ambitious way, I will play players although they have a contract expiring in the summer. (Via: theguardian.com)"

Paul Pogba, like the three defenders who have been deemed unfit for Manchester United colours, can use these remaining months as a window-shopping experience — something like an audition — for clubs to see what they are buying.

This could bring about a common goal for all fringe players, or players in the final stages of the contract; they will perform at their best level and could achieve greatness in order to engineer a move away from the Theatre of Dreams.

Paul Pogba recently returned

The World Cup winner has only recently returned to full training after being sidelined for two and half months. His last outing came in the Champions League back in November last year against Atalanta.

He has made 13 appearances this season, scoring no goals and assisting seven. At the start of the season, the midfielder started the campaign off like a house on fire. He collected five assists in the first two games, four on the opening day of Premier League action.

He led the EPL in assists for the first few weeks of the season. It soon went south and the amazing start was coupled with a red card against Liverpool and a three-match suspension to add to his time on the sideline this term.
