Pep and Manchester City going all out for European glory
Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo once said and I quote ” football is played with the head. Your feet are just the tools.” when you see Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City play. This is what comes to mind. Guardiola is known for1 his insanely good tactics. He really is a footballing mastermind. He did it in Germany, he did it in Spain. But people were not convinced. They wanted him to do it in the toughest league of all the Premier League. Many speculated that Guardiola would not be the same tactical genius in the toughest league in the European football.
But Guardiola loves to prove everyone wrong. Anyone who prayed and wished for his downfall and failure in the Premier League certainly got failed in it, because this man has made the league a one-team show. City has been dominating the league ever since Pep joined them, winning the league three out of the last four seasons shows how good of a team City is and how good of a manager Pep is.
Recent glory for Manchester City
Manchester for a very long time has been red. Manchester United have dominated the League for well over 2 decades. But Manchester has new kings. Red Devils no longer own the city. Because now, Manchester is blue. When you see City play you can not help yourself and question their abilities, they are just so good at all the departments. When we see them play we not only say “wow” we also say “how” that should tell how incredible football they play, I mean dominating the toughest league without a proper striker is not everyone’s cup of tea.
But nevertheless, Pep’s City has done that. It seems like there is no stopping of City even, this season. They continue to amaze us all with their simple yet, elegant football. They are miles clear in terms of points in the League and it is that composure of the team that sets them apart from others. Usually, no team would look comfortable on the pitch after a 1-0 lead. But City looks to be under no pressure when they are 1-0 up. Even, against Chelsea this matchday. They were 1-0 up and were still looking so comfortable on the ball, it is just incredible.
A lot more still left to achieve
It really came as a surprise to football fans all over the world, when City lost the UEFA Champions League final against Chelsea last season. Some speculated that it was because of the overthinking that Pep does before big games. This could be very true as for that matter, not winning a Champions League after leaving Barcelona is really a cloud hanging on Pep. People do not rate him because of it. No matter how many leagues he wins. No matter how many domestic titles he gets, none of the trophies could replace the glory of a UCL. That is absolutely the truth.
Pep’s City will go all out this season in the UCL. They are already in a very comfortable position in the league. So the focus would be now on the Champions League. This time they would not give any margin of error to any team. They are there to win and that is the bottom line. With their continuous domination in the league this season it finally seems to be happening. City and Pep might finally get their hands on the UCL and become the champions of Europe.
