Arsenal are currently seeking a midfielder in this transfer window, and it has been reported that they are targeting Juventus and Brazil midfielder Arthur Melo.
Arthur is said to be available after falling out of favour with boss Maxi Allegri. The club and the player would both be open to letting the Brazilian go on loan to the London, but only if Juventus can find a replacement or back up in his midfield area.
The 25-year-old moved to Italy in 2020 from Barcelona, in a deal that saw Miralem Pjanic head in the opposite direction and Juventus pay 72 million Euros. In Spain, the midfielder was a main stay in the team, which leads many to believe that the transfer was more about easing the Blaugrana’s financial issues, rather than for footballing reasons.
Since arriving in Turin, Arthur played significantly under former Manager Andrea Pirlo, being a lynchpin midfielder for the Italian legend, but since Allegri returned to the helm, he has not fit in so well.
The Brazilian is a versatile midfielder who can play any position in central midfield, be that defensive or attacking. He is known for his technical ability, being able to pick out a pin point through ball, steady play with his ball control or dribble through players to create space and chances for others.
The Gunners are reportedly set on signing the player, with a midfielder being a priority in January. Arthur could be a solid addition to one of the form teams of 2021/22.
