Tottenham Hotspur are expected to bid for Wolverhampton Wanderer’s star winger, Spain international, Adama Traore. There was rumoured interest when former Wolves’ manager, Nuno Espirito Santos was at the helm, and under Antonio Conte, it seems the clubs interest has continued.
It is believed that Conte would like to deploy the Traore in the wing-role, much like he did with Victor Moses, when at Chelsea.
The winger currently has 18 months left on his contract and is unlikely to sign a new deal anytime soon. It is also understood that Wolves’ manager, Bruno Lage, has been told he must offload players before he is allowed to bring in new signings, and selling the Spain international now, would seem like the most profitable time.
In Friday’s press conference, Lage admitted that should a big offer come in for the player, they are not in the position to say no.
"“When you want to do the next step and every time you sell your best players, the next step never happens,” he said.“The main point is to continue with the same players, but if one big transfer appears sometimes you cannot say no.“You never know if something happens in the last minute, then you have to decide what is best for the club and the player.” (via BBC Sport)"
This season Traore has failed to register a goal or assist in all competitions, but his aggressive running and ability to beat defenders with ease, has always made him an attractive prospect for higher placed clubs.
It is not know when Tottenham will make their move for Traore, but it is believed that it will be in January, and could be a deal that works for all parties.
