Manchester United’s Ralf Rangnick affirms that Edinson Cavani will be available beyond the January transfer window after a long and positive chat with the veteran striker.
Edinson Cavani has given Manchester United’s interim boss some reassurance that he will be here to help out through the remainder of the campaign, a second half that has become extremely important for them as they try to secure a top-four spot early.
Here is what Ralf Rangnick had to say about Edinson Cavani:
"I told him that if it was up to me I would want him to stay and I had a conversation with him [on Thursday].He came to my office and we spoke for almost half an hour and he told me that he will definitely stay, he will want to stay until the end of the season. Not only because I told him that he should stay or has to stay, but he did it on his own behalf. He told me that I can rely on him to stay until the end of the season and give his very best, be a role model for the young players. If he should play from the start, he’s available and he’s happy to play. Even if he’s not playing, he will be trying to be the best possible role model for the other players. This is, for me, good news because Edi is one of those players with his vast amount of experience, his mentality, his work ethic, who could really be a perfect role model for all the other players. This is great news for Manchester United fans and the club
Cavani is a striker you would want to keep in your ranks by any means necessary. Not only does he have the goods to help you out at any point or minute in a game but, he has the quality and football experience to nurture young strikers, turning them into top European talents.
The player has been linked with an exit since last summer and talks of a possible departure have not calmed down until Rangnick’s recent public revelation in the matter. He has been linked heavily with a move to South America to potentially join Corinthians — Juventus in Italy have also expressed their interest in the Uruguayan.
This season, with a lot of in-house problems and changes happening at The Theatre of Dreams, as well as injuries to the 34-year-old, Cavani has been awarded limited game time.
He’s only made 11 appearances across all competitions this season, with four of them being starts. But in this time has aided his team with two goals.
Reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League and the fight for a European spot hotter than a heater, a forward of Cavani’s goalscoring quality on the team.
