Pogba out at least another month, as defender leaves
Paul Pogba is set to be out of action for at least another month as he slowly makes his recovery from a groin injury, which he suffered on international duty with France back in November.
Manchester United’s Interim Manager, Ralf Rangnick revealed the news when asked if the French midfielder would back on the pitch soon.
"“A week ago, I was told it would take another four or five weeks,” said Rangnick on Friday.“He’s not training with the team yet. As far as I know from the medical department, it will last another three weeks, four weeks, and once he is then fit for training it does not necessarily mean he is also match fit.“It will probably take a couple of weeks before he is really able to compete for the first team.” (via BBC Sport)"
United were hoping to have Pogba back before their Champions League knockout tie against Atletico Madrid, on February 16, but that looks like a long shot now.
The 28-year-old is also out of contract at the end of the season, and with no current extension ready to sign, Pogba is free to discuss with other European clubs about a pre-contract agreement.
United have already organised one outgoing in the meantime, after recalling Alex Tuanzebe from his loan spell at Aston Villa, the club has since sent the defender back out on loan, this time to Serie A side, Napoli.
Pogba’s future may be unclear but, before flying out to Italy, Tuanzebe signed a new contract, one that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2023.
United are believed to be in the market for a midfielder this month, with the possibility of Pogba having played his last game for the club slowly growing.
