Bruno pips de Gea to win Manchester United’s Fans’ Footballer of the Year

It has been a dull week for Manchester United fans. The COVID-19 is gripping Premier League squads and the Red Devils are one of the worst affected sides.
However, ahead of the festive period, there is a moment for them to cherish. One of the Old Trafford favorites, Bruno Fernandes, has pipped David de Gea to be named Manchester United’s Fans’ Footballer of the Year.

As stated further in the report, the former Sporting player beat de Gea by 292 votes to win the coveted award. Bruno received 3372 votes while the Spaniard received 3080 votes.
Bruno Fernandes had a great 2021 despite his form deteriorating recently. In 2021, the player has scored 19 goals and has 18 assists in 57 games across all competitions.
In the Premier League alone, Fernandes has 13 goals from 38 appearances for the Red Devils, including eight assists for his club in 2021.

While Fernandes’ form depreciates David de Gea’s form improves
After a poor UEFA Europa League finals in 2020/21, David de Gea has redeemed himself in the ongoing campaign. The player has not only saved the club from embarrassing defeats but also has literally had a hand in their Champions League Round of 16 qualification.
David de Gea has fared better in the UCL this term compared to last run out. His save percentage has drastically improved from 63.64% to 72%.
His penalty save against West Ham United early in their league meeting helped Manchester United take home all three points. This is the reason behind David de Gea getting the second-most votes.
Bruno Fernandes is a key player for Manchester United and his form is vital for the club’s success and in their quest for silverware. Ralf Rangnick has an enormous task to get the attacking midfielder back to his best form.
