Tottenham target and Fiorentina’s in-form forward Dusan Vlahovic has been the subject of a transfer to England since last summer and due to the ongoing stalemate between him and his club over a new deal, they have to look for the best suitable sale.
The Serie A top scorer who has improved season by season has evolved into one of the most sought after strikers, especially now that his current deal is reaching the final 18 months when we are in January; gaining his prolific services has become a top priority for some of Europe’s giants.
Recently, the club’s owner Rocco Commisso admitted to defeat: he came out and spoke of Dusan Vlahovic rejecting multiple deals which were all attempts to try to secure his stay at the Artemio Franchi.
"Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic has rejected multiple improved contract offers from the club, according to owner Rocco Commisso. In a statement released on Tuesday, Commisso noted that Fiorentina had made the 21-year-old a “significant” offer that would have made him the club’s highest-paid player in history. Tottenham may be leading the race for Dusan Vlahovic signature
Consequently and almost immediately after the Athletic report on Commisso’s Vlahovic admission, it was publicised that Tottenham had held talks with Fiorentina’s hierarchy in London.
With Arsenal’s interest growing increasingly fast, Fabio Paratici and the Spurs board will want to complete this deal before their North London rivals put in a bid — it is rumoured that a sum of over €80 million, the Gunners are willing to shoot their shot with.
"Fiorentina hold talks with Tottenham as Arsenal increase offer for Vlahovic. Corriere Fiorentino have reported that Vlahovic’s agent Darko Ristic and Fiorentina’s Joe Barone talked to each other in a meeting recently to address what has become a rather delicate transfer situation. While Arsenal are now willing to offer over €80 million and Spurs have met with the Fiorentina executives for a potential January move, the situation is still complex.(Via: getfootballnewsitaly.com)"
Just a month ago it was reported that multiple Premier League clubs will go head-to-head in a bidding war for Dusan Vlahovic and not much has changed — the only difference though — there are more than just EPL clubs in it to win his signature.
German twosome Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have been monitoring the Serbian since the previous summer window as well, even having tried to sign him. But the Italians rejected the offer as the evaluation was way off of what they believed their prized asset to be worth.
Good on I Viola for holding out on for a better offer with Arsenal already putting up over €80 million to beat their city rivals to Vlahovic. Spurs fans will be hoping Antonio Conte being the manager will start attracting Europe’s best and help them persuade Vlahovic to choose the Spurs over the Gunners.
Dusan Vlahovic is currently leading the Italian Serie A in goals scored this season with 12 goals in 15 games. He could be the long-term replacement option for the still undecided: Harry Kane.
