Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp are waiting for a double injury boost with Naby Keita and Joe Gomez expected to return to action later rather than sooner; the Reds boss explains their timeline in his latest talks.

Since enduring a torrid time with a number of injuries where at one stage of the campaign Liverpool were almost without seven to eight first-team players, things are finally on the up and Klopp suffers the more welcoming issue of having to select from a plethora of first-teamers rather than having no players to choose from.

The duo who are set to return for Liverpool: Naby Keita and Joe Gomez

Yes, the good news is that the Reds boss confirmed that another two players are coming back, but how long before they back on the pitch is still unknown. Gomez and Keita will hopefully rejoin training next week but how long before they can be in contention for a playing spot, he could not establish.

"Jürgen Klopp is hopeful Joe Gomez and Naby Keita can return to training next week as he offered an update on the condition of his squad ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Everton.Gomez has been absent since the start of November due to a calf injury, while Keita has been sidelined since sustaining a hamstring issue against Brighton & Hove Albion on October 30."

Gomez was finding his feet after just recovering from injury while Keita was enjoying one of his best-attacking spells at Anfield. The former has made seven appearances across all competitions — three of which has been starts — and clocked a total of 315 minutes played only.

The latter has made 10 appearances with eight of them being starts and has scored a couple of worldies this season. Now would be the best time to get match fit and become an option for the manager during one of the most testing times during the Premier League campaign.

Jurgen Klopp on the injuries at the club:

"Joe is in a really good moment. He is doing really well, he is doing a lot of stuff outside, so hopefully next week he can be in training.I hope the same for Naby, pretty much – that he will be in training next week as well, but there’s no news."

Sadly FPL managers and Liverpool fans will have to wait for other returns according to the manager:

"There’s no real update [on Curtis], so we have to wait. I think once every two weeks they always make another examination. Curtis is completely fine, but we have to be careful with it and so we cannot rush it. I think the next test is tomorrow and then we will know more.Bobby is good but he is still a couple of weeks away from being fully back, but he is doing pretty much everything just with the extent of the injury we have to be careful, but it’s all fine. Liverpool have robust Merseyside derby up next

Liverpool are brimming in confidence as they head to Goodison Park for a clash against Everton on Wednesday night. Despite a loss against West Ham United, which was their first of the season, they’ve taken the scene as if they had no players missing from team selection.

But it is now where Klopp’s squad, thin with first-team experience and flourishing with young talent, will answer the question can they keep up with the big boys with the bigger squad and who are ahead of them.
