Jesse Lingard wants out of Manchester United as soon as January

Jesse Lingard’s time at Manchester United has apparently run its course and he will not sign a new deal with the club; the player is said to be looking for an exit as early as the January transfer window.

According to reports, Lingard who enjoyed a resurgence in form with West Ham United last season has ended discussions over a new deal with Man United.

The talks were ongoing since the player returned from his six months loan spell at London stadium and now has taken a turn for the worst.

His current contract expires at the end of the season but the player’s agents are not going to misuse his time and will seek a loan move away from Old Trafford and then at the end of the season see him leave as a free agent.

Cannot blame him for wanting to leave Manchester United

It is hard for him to get in behind the players operating in the same position as him. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has struggled to rotate his squad effectively and appears unable to get the best out of the 28-year-old as David Moyes expertly did last season.

He has only featured eight times this season, and of those eight, only one was a start. However, despite only playing 158 minutes of first-team football for the Red Devils, he has scored two goals this season — one in the cup loss to West Ham and the other in the league victory over Newcastle.

There will be plenty of offers for Jesse Lingard

Judging by how well he did in a free-roaming role as a Hammer, Lingard definitely needs a club where he can be free to roam the pitch and has license to shoot — but most importantly — play regular football.

Lingard did more in six months in London with West Ham than what he has done in the last three and half years combined at Manchester United. Since the 2018/19 campaign, he has only scored seven goals and collected six assists. That was achieved in 57 outings.

At West Ham, he scored nine goals and assisted a further five West Ham goals. He did that in 16 appearances. No clubs have been named as of now. Surely as we get closer to the winter window, we will find a host of clubs across Europe after his services.

There is a World Cup squad to be made and Jesse, at 28 years of age, wants to get into the team and possibly play his last major international tournament — as we know — England is stacked for talent.
