With the Premier League approaching its busiest point of the season, it’s time to look at some of the biggest surprises of the season thus far.

In this list, I will be outlining 5 players who have surprised the league with their performances so far this season.

From young players breaking out to older players in the best form we’ve seen from them in years, these are just some of this year’s biggest surprise packages.

Here are the five most surprising stars in the Premier League to date…

Hee-Chan Hwang – Wolves

The South Korean international disappointed after his move to RB Leipzig last season, failing to score in 18 Bundesliga appearances during his short time at the club. Since his loan move to Wolves, however, he has been reborn as a budding star.

Through his first eight league appearances this season, he has four goals, including a brace against Newcastle. He has lived up to the potential he showed with RB Salzburg in 2019-20, where he had 11 goals and 12 assists.

Hwang has paired well with the returning Raul Jimenez to form a dangerous attack for Wolves, and his performances have been noticed by some of the biggest clubs in the world, such as Liverpool.

He is one of the stronger forwards in the league, and his aggression has made him a difficult striker to defend against. Wolves will certainly be looking to sign him to a permanent deal in January, and fans will be looking to see him find the back of the net for years to come.
