Premier League: Three most underperforming teams after 11 played
With the World Cup Qualifiers, some players got the sweet taste of qualifying for the prestigious international tournament. Still, some players must face the cruel reality of returning to club football in the Premier League where they have been underperforming.
While many clubs have been disappointing, and while hard to compile this list, we take a look at the top three teams that desperately need to pick up the pace and start to get positive results in the Premier League.
Aston Villa – Surely they miss Jack Grealish?
Villa fans indeed wish Jack Grealish had never left, but in return, Aston Villa used their money and spent it on several players like Emiliano Buendía, Leon Bailey, and Danny Ings, to name a few. These players have not given the success Villa fans were expecting since their arrival to the club.
Between the three, they have a tallied total of five out of 14 total goals this season, with Ings scoring three of those five goals.
Picking up three wins, one draw, and seven losses in their first 11 matches made the board sack Dean Smith and call up Liverpool legend and now former Scottish side Rangers FC Steven Gerrard to take on the team and bring them up in the general standings.
Gerrard was very successful in Scotland, clinching the 2020-2021 Scottish Premiership. Aston Villa fans will hope he brings them at least up to European qualification for next season.
Luckily for Gerrard and company, Aston Villa hosts Brighton, which can prove to be sort of a difficult match, but perfect enough for Gerrard to star in his debut as a Premier League manager.
